Pause

'May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are.. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us..'

Weak Feet Wreak Havoc

Easy Ways to Strengthen Feet to Reduce Pain and Stiffness

Our poor feet just don’t get what they need to be healthy and happy -- and you know who pays the price, don’t you? According to Katy Bowman, MS, director of the Restorative Exercise Institute in Ventura, California, modern life is hard on our feet. An astonishing 25% of the body’s bones are in the feet, says Bowman, noting "every one of them has a job to do."

We actually weaken our feet by wearing shoes -- encasing them this way diminishes their natural strength and abilities. Walking on artificially flat surfaces does further damage, since the foot is deprived of the natural workout it is supposed to get from varying natural terrain.

Perception

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.  What disturbing thing happened next?

What is this?

We're floating along, caught up in the past or the future. Breath for a moment and ask, what is this? This moment. Think creatively about the now. How will you love well today?

What is your Daily Yoke, your daily work? What you choose to think now will ripple through the universe forever. You leave your mark with every action. You reap what you sow.

Yoga literally means "to yoke". The objective is to yolk oneself to The Ultimate Reality. However you define it - the Ultimate Reality is larger than your little self, the little ego built through years of mindless reacting that colors our habitual life.

This blog is dedicated to the hard work, the daily yoke, of breaking out of the habits that limit our ability to live fully in this, eternal moment. I'm blogging about my experience with Yoga, and simply struggling to stay awake.

What is this life to you? What's your daily yoke?
